Jason Dupuis receives Canada’s Outstanding Principals award

Tuesday, January 27, OTTAWA – The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) is proud to learn that Jason Dupuis, principal of École secondaire catholique Garneau, has been selected as one of 40 school principals to receive Canada’s Outstanding Principals award from The Learning Partnership. This makes him the first principal of a French-language secondary school to receive this prestigious award.

Every year, The Learning Partnership recognizes 40 exceptional principals having excelled in educational leadership, commitment to the community, and integration of innovative methods having a direct impact on students’ success.

“Mr. Dupuis meets the education leadership criteria established for principals eligible to receive this award. He stands out in terms of his creativity, critical thinking, and open-mindedness,” explained Julie Matte, Superintendent of Education of the CECCE. “He is constantly seeking dynamic solutions – in collaboration with his staff, students, and community – in his quest to improve students’ academic performance and wellness.”

“Under Mr. Dupuis’ leadership, Garneau has undergone a veritable wave of learning changes in the classroom. He has brought his team, students, and their parents together around this major project – which is nothing less than the shift to the digital age,” explained Bernard Roy, Director of Education of the CECCE. “Through this shift, students benefit from an engaging and differentiated pedagogy that promotes dialogue and ’seach student development. It encourages students to discover their world with curiosity while at the same time developing their critical thinking skills.”

The principals receiving this award will attend a leadership training program exclusive to the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management – one of the country’s most respected business schools. They will also be inducted into The Learning Partnership’s National Academy and join its current 350 members – all the education leaders previously recognized by this

organization.

The principals will be honoured by the organization at its annual gala taking place on February 24 in Toronto.
