Grand Opening of Kemptville Pavilion of École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys

October 18, 2016, KEMPTVILLE - This morning, the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) held a grand opening ceremony for the Kemptville pavilion of École catholique Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys. A number of dignitaries were present, including MPP Steve Clark, North Grenville Mayor David Gordon, Deputy Mayor Barb Tobin, and other municipal councillors.

The grand opening ceremony marked a major milestone for the community in Kemptville and the surrounding area, which has been seeking a

French Catholic school for years.

Parents showed their appreciation for the initiative by registering 120 children at the Kemptville pavilion for the new school year, a number that surpassed the CECCE’s initial projections.

CECCE Chair Johanne Lacombe thanked parents for their confidence, patience and ongoing support. “The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est’s vision will come to life in Kemptville thanks to the community’s tenacity and key decision-makers’ willingness to collaborate. Long live French Catholic education in Kemptville!” she said.

Director of Education Réjean Sirois congratulated staff members who worked tirelessly under very tight timelines to get a facility that will help students achieve their full potential ready by the start of the new school year. “The CECCE felt it was important to make French Catholic education available to parents in Kemptville and the surrounding area in a facility that supports the development of 21st-century competencies and transformation of the learning experience. Classrooms were renovated over the summer so they would be ready for students to start the school year here in August.”

The grand opening celebrates a new era of French Catholic education for students in junior kindergarten to grade 9 in Kemptville. The program will be expanded as new grades are added in the coming years, and by 2019, French Catholic education will be available for students in junior kindergarten to grade 12.
