Amazing success for 6th annual Forum des parents organized by CECCE

November 4, 2017, OTTAWA The 6th annual Forum des parents organized by the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE), which took place yesterday at the Collège catholique Mer Bleue, once again exceeded expectations and met with overwhelming success!

This year’s event achieved record participation with over 200 registrations! Guest speaker and comedian Martin Larocque kicked off the program with an interesting and at times humorous talk on parenthood entitled “Être parent, c’est mêlant!” Parents were then invited to take part in a workshop on mental health that featured CECCE experts in this area discussing several topics related to children’s well-being.

“The Forum des parents is a free, dynamic, and interactive event dedicated to parents! It’s a golden opportunity to learn more about parenting, to meet other parents and talk to them about their children, and to discover the different programs and services that are available,” explained the Chair of the CECCE, Johanne Lacombe. “Indeed, children’s well-being is at the heart of our priorities here at the CECCE and we are pleased to help equip parents in this regard.”

Director of Education Réjean Sirois, who was thrilled with the event’s continuing success, mentioned that “the Forum des parents helps equip parents to better support and nurture their children, both from the educational and personal perspectives. In fact, since the CECCE offers an array of services to parents and students and counts a multitude of educational experts within its ranks, I believe it is essential for us to hold this type of event so that as many families as possible can benefit.”

The organizers of the Forum wished to thank the many community partners who were present to provide information on the various programs and services available in the community for parents and their children. The organizers thanked the City of Ottawa, Maison Fraternité, the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre, the East Ottawa Resource Centre, La Cité Collégiale, Aventures en science et en génie d’Ottawa, the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, the Mouvement d’implication francophone d’Orléans (MIFO), Parents partenaires en éducation (PPE), the Association francophone des troubles d’apprentissage (AFPED+), Parents’ Lifelines, and President and Chief Security Advisory.
