2017 Public Consultation - Attendance Boundaries

Following the feedback received from the public during our consultation period (February 7 - 21) and the March 28 meeting, the councilors have approved the new school district for the Arnprior school, which will open in 2018.

A New French Catholic School coming to Arnprior

On November 5, 2015, the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) obtained approval to build a new French Catholic elementary school in Arnprior for JK to grade 8 students.

The new school will make French Catholic education available to 250 students who do not currently have access to French-language education in their area.

The CECCE will also be building a daycare to accommodate 39 children.

On December 2, 2015, the CECCE met with some 50 interested parents and community members, and together, they shared their vision for the new Arnprior French Catholic elementary school.

Subsequently, the CECCE purchased land on Baskin Street to build the school. Although the land purchase process was positive overall, it was complex, which resulted in longer-than-anticipated delays. In addition, the CECCE will have to make arrangements for utilities (water, sewer, hydro, natural gas) that the previous owner was not responsible for pursuant to the agreement of sale.

Construction is set to begin in 2017, and the school will open its doors in the fall of 2018. There will be an official groundbreaking ceremony at the start of construction, and progress updates will be posted on this website.

The CECCE selected the firm of Pye & Richards Architects Inc., which has already delivered a preliminary design for the school and a site plan, which you can view below. The images below show a potential second phase that involves adding a high school wing, but the proposal has not yet received Ministry of Education approval.
